0. Download CryptoCloud files:

Go to https://www.cryptocloud.com/members/ and click on “Download Config Files”. Download all 4 files (cryptocloud.conf, ca.crt, client.key, client.crt). Make sure you put all the files in one folder.

Remember that everytime you change your country preferences, you’ll need to re-download cryptocloud.conf (but not the other files) and overwrite the old one.

1. Enable the “universe” repository:

Edit /etc/apt/sources.list and uncomment (i.e: remove the leading “#”) all the lines ending with “universe”

2. Open the terminal and type:

sudo apt-get update
[press enter]
sudo apt-get install network-manager-openvpn
[press enter]

3. Open the Network Manager (icon with two arrows in the system bar), click on the VPN tab > Import > choose the cryptocloud.conf file you have downloaded earlier.

4. Network Manager will now import all of the CryptoCloud settings automatically. Before you click on “Apply”, make sure you enter your username and password in the right fields (do not enter anything in the Private Key Password). Remember that your username is always all lower-case.

5. Close the VPN configuration window and left click on the Network Manager icon in the system toolbar > VPN Connections > cryptocloud

6. That’s it, you should be connected now!
